26 Feb
Summary
- Kelly Cutrone defends Tyra Banks against current backlash.
- Cutrone believes most of the docuseries is twisted.
- Watts previously accused Cutrone of "fake s---" on set.

Kelly Cutrone, a former judge on America's Next Top Model, has spoken out in defense of Tyra Banks amidst a resurgence of criticism. The controversy centers on a new docuseries that features former contestants and judges sharing negative experiences with Banks. Cutrone, who was a judge from Cycle 18 to Cycle 22, expressed her belief that Banks will ultimately prevail over the current backlash.
Cutrone stated to PEOPLE that she feels 80% of the docuseries is "incredibly twisted" and that the truth will eventually emerge. The docuseries highlights instances such as pressuring a contestant to alter her teeth, assigning models race-swapping photo challenges, and Banks' apology for not adequately protecting a contestant from alleged harassment. Cutrone, who also previously criticized fellow judge Jay Manuel, emphasized that while the show and Banks are not perfect, Banks does not deserve the current level of criticism.
This defense comes after Cycle 18 contestant Louise Watts accused Cutrone of antagonizing her on set with "fake s---" during a challenge, which led Watts to quit the competition. Cutrone, however, defended her actions at the time, stating Watts showed a "zero regard for hierarchy" and a lack of understanding of the industry. Sherri Shepherd also recently defended Banks on her talk show, highlighting the challenges Banks faced keeping the show on air.
