Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center is currently hosting "Solid Light," an exhibition by internationally acclaimed artist Anthony McCall, running until Monday, July 27. This free exhibition transforms light into interactive sculptural forms, inviting visitors to engage with beams and shadows. McCall, a pioneer in experimental film, uses projected light and a misty haze to create the illusion of solid light. The exhibition includes his groundbreaking 1973 piece "Line Describing a Cone" and newer works like "Doubling Back" (2003) and "Split-Second Mirror" (2018).
The arts center also features Chad Mount's "Frequency and Perspective" through November 2, utilizing light, geometry, and movement. Upcoming exhibitions include "Clever, Quick, Magnetic: The Art of Witty Banter" (opening September 3, 2026), Anthony James's light sculpture (starting October 15, 2026), Raven Halfmoon's sculptures (opening November 18, 2026), Wayne Coyne's retrospective (opening February 11, 2027), and a collaborative exhibit by Aaron Jones and Kristi Williams (starting June 17, 2027).
