Anthony Joshua has broken his silence following the tragic car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of his long-time strength coach, Sina Ghami, and personal trainer, Latif 'Latz' Ayodele. The former heavyweight champion appeared visibly emotional on social media, expressing profound gratitude for the outpouring of support he has received since the incident, which occurred near Lagos in December.
Both Ghami and Ayodele, who had been close friends of Joshua since childhood, were involved in a fatal collision with a stationary truck. Their funerals were held jointly on January 4 at a mosque in London, bringing together family, friends, and members of the boxing community. Joshua shared a poignant image from the service with the caption 'My Brothers Keeper,' signifying his commitment to their families.
Joshua has resumed boxing training, describing it as 'mental strength therapy' and sharing footage of his sessions. While his future in the sport remains uncertain during this period of grief, promoter Eddie Hearn suggested that Joshua might consider returning to the ring in honor of his late friends, emphasizing that such a decision will be made when the time is right.
