Anthonie Mackie, known for his Marvel roles, is teaming up with Dafne Keen for the upcoming action thriller 'Barracuda.' Directed by Neil Burger, the film casts Mackie as a man with a troubled past who is tasked with rescuing a kidnapped teenage girl, played by Keen.
The script, penned by Adam Mason and Simon Boyes, promises a relentless, real-time sprint toward the border. Burger described it as "out-of-control, relentless mayhem."
The synopsis reveals Mackie’s character, Karl, a former smuggler, storms a nightclub in Mexico to save Jodie (Keen). This act ignites a violent conflict after Karl kills the club owner’s brother and steals his prized 1973 Plymouth Barracuda.
Now hunted by dangerous criminals, Karl and Jodie embark on a high-speed race across the desert. Mackie is also concurrently working on 'Avengers: Doomsday' and has a role in 'Speed-the-plow.' Keen, who previously starred in 'Logan,' is also slated for 'The Marshmallow Experiment' and 'Night Comes.'
