In an exciting development for theater and music fans, acclaimed actor Ansel Elgort has been cast in the lead role of The Godfather for the upcoming production of 'Quadrophenia: A Rock Ballet' in New York City. The production, directed by Rob Ashford with choreography by the late Paul Roberts, will have a four-performance run from November 14-16, 2025.
Elgort, who began training as a dancer at the age of nine and studied for five years at the School for American Ballet, is eager to return to the stage in this unique rock ballet. "Rock n' Roll is not dead. I think it's having a rebirth right now, and to be able to return to the stage in The Who's Quadrophenia rock ballet feels like a gift from the rock gods," he said.
The production of 'Quadrophenia' arrives in New York City from a run of performances at Sadler's Wells Theatre in London and a UK tour. Rachel Fuller's orchestral version of the iconic Who album, recorded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, will provide the musical backdrop for the ballet, which will be costumed by British fashion house Paul Smith.
Joining Elgort on stage will be Paris Fitzpatrick, who will perform the lead role of Jimmy Fitzpatrick. Additional casting for the U.S. debut of 'Quadrophenia' is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
