Anne Robinson flees Cotswolds for London health move

Veteran broadcaster Anne Robinson, 81, is relocating from her Cotswolds home to London due to mounting health concerns after four decades of country living. She has decided to sell her Grade II-listed converted barn, which she purchased in 2006 for £1 million and has since renovated extensively. The property is now on the market for £4.5 million.

Robinson's new residence will be an apartment overlooking Hyde Park, placing her geographically closer to her daughter, broadcaster Emma Wilson, and her two grandchildren, Hudson and Parker. This proximity is a key factor in her decision, as she wishes to avoid causing distress to her family with potential future medical emergencies.

Having given up driving due to worsening eyesight, Robinson looks forward to a more independent lifestyle in the city. She anticipates learning to navigate the London Underground with her daughter's help and enjoys the prospect of walking to meet friends, rather than relying on others for transportation.

In the same interview, Robinson alluded to having distributed her considerable fortune, estimated to be around £50 million, to her children and grandchildren. She stated this was to avoid inheritance tax, expressing a desire for her family to benefit from the wealth during her lifetime rather than lose a significant portion to the taxman.
