Her own career in the film industry began as a location scout for director John Huston. She also served as a publicist for the Cannes Film Festival. Buydens first encountered Kirk Douglas in 1953 on the set of "Act of Love," where she sought employment as his assistant.
They married in 1954 and shared a long and loving union until Kirk Douglas' death in February 2020 at the age of 103. Together, Anne and Kirk had two sons, Peter and Eric. Eric passed away in 2004. Michael Douglas, Kirk's son from his first marriage, also survives. Both Anne and Kirk Douglas achieved remarkable longevity.
