Veteran actor Anil Kapoor recently shared insights into the early challenges of his acting career, focusing on how his signature facial hair often became a point of contention with filmmakers. During a session at the India Today Conclave Delhi 2026, Kapoor revealed that his attempts to appear older by maintaining a stubble were frequently met with rejections, with directors commenting he looked too young for roles.

He noted that established actors of the era, like Dharmendra and Vinod Khanna, sported stubble, a look he emulated. However, Kapoor explained that his moustache proved to be a significant impediment. Industry gatekeepers at the time held the belief that a prominent moustache would hinder an actor's potential for superstardom, a notion Kapoor contested by citing examples like Charlie Chaplin and Raj Kapoor.
