Williams-Ellis described Sir Andy Murray as "remarkably cooperative" during their initial meeting. The tennis star repeatedly held poses for extended periods, even while mimicking playing a shot, impressing the sculptor with his charm and commitment.
This commission follows a previous one by Princess Beatrice's husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. He had previously commissioned Williams-Ellis to create a sculpture of the late Queen Elizabeth II and her horse, a piece that deeply resonated with both Edoardo and Princess Beatrice.
