Anderson .Paak's K-Pops! Album: A K-Pop & R&B Fusion

Anderson .Paak's "K-Pops! (Music from and inspired by K-Pops! Motion Picture)" is set for release on May 29, following his directorial debut film, "K-Pops!," which premiered on Netflix on May 30. The album boasts an impressive roster of K-pop artists such as aespa, NMIXX, and G-Dragon, reflecting the film's setting in South Korea's vibrant idol industry.

This project also highlights .Paak's distinct musical vision, infused with his signature lush, retro sound. He collaborated with producer Dem Jointz to merge K-pop elements with his own style, creating a release that feels akin to a solo album, his first since 2019's "Ventura."

.Paak emphasized the album's role in reminding listeners of K-pop's roots in Black American music, like R&B and hip-hop. He noted the difficulty in uniting artists from competing labels but expressed pride in achieving this collaborative feat, calling it one of his most challenging projects.

The album includes contributions from his son, Soul Rasheed, on the track "Love Is Everywhere," a personal moment for .Paak. He also shared his ongoing passion for directing, eager to tell more unique stories, particularly within the Black and Asian communities, and continues his successful Silk Sonic performances with Bruno Mars.
