Nine-time Grammy winner Anderson .Paak recently premiered his directorial debut, "K-Pops!," a family comedy co-starring his son, Soul Rasheed. The film intricately weaves together Black culture and K-pop, centering on a struggling L.A. musician who unexpectedly finds his son participating in a K-pop talent competition in Seoul.
During the pandemic lockdown, .Paak, finding himself home with his then 8-year-old son, was inspired by Soul's interest in YouTube and K-pop. This personal connection fueled the narrative for "K-Pops!," aiming to create a joyful family story that showcases Black families. Rasheed, who was a fan of BTS, found acting alongside his father natural given their real-life relationship.
Despite admitting directing was an intensely challenging experience, .Paak expressed a willingness to direct again. He also teased upcoming projects, including a soundtrack album featuring K-pop collaborations and confirmed his participation in Bruno Mars's upcoming Silk Sonic tour, hinting at further surprises.
