- Kalamb has a history of ancient idol discoveries dating back decades.

During excavation for the Savitribai Phule Community Hall in Kalamb, Yavatmal, on January 15, ancient religious artifacts were discovered. Workers unearthed a Shivling, Shivpind, and a carved Nandi idol. Notably, the Shivling appears to have emerged from beneath the Shivpind, a formation considered exceptionally rare and religiously significant due to its unusual orientation and fine artistry.
The discovery has transformed the area into a devotional center, with large numbers of devotees gathering for darshan and participating in religious ceremonies. This event highlights Kalamb's rich historical and religious background, with past discoveries of ancient idols, including a Yaksha idol and a Goddess Vindhyavasini idol, underscoring the region's long-standing cultural importance.
Archaeological experts suggest that these idols might have been buried for safekeeping during periods of historical turmoil, such as the rule of the Bahmani kingdom or Delhi Sultanate, when temples were often destroyed. The unearthed artifacts are seen as a testament to the enduring spiritual heritage of the region, prompting calls for their proper preservation.
