Gasteyer, who earned a Tony nomination for her performance, expressed sadness about leaving the musical but described her time as an "unexpected joy piñata." She highlighted the show's strong community and work ethic, calling it a "very, very happy place" to work. 'Schmigadoon!' recently won the Tony for Best Musical and is scheduled to continue its Broadway run through January 3, 2027, with a North American tour commencing in September 2027.
Following her departure from 'Schmigadoon!', Gasteyer is set to assist her alter ego, September L. Davis, with Davis's off-Broadway show, 'The Apology Tour.' Gasteyer noted that the show involves Davis "making amends publicly for her terrible behavior" through original music and performances. Gasteyer's theater credits also include 'Funny Girl' and 'Wicked.'
