30 Jul
Summary
- Mitch Winehouse ordered to pay $2.7M to two of Amy's friends.
- Judge ruled Mitch's claims of unauthorized auction were unfounded.
- Mitch must pay nearly $2.7 million in damages and legal fees.

Mitch Winehouse, father of the late singer Amy Winehouse, has been ordered by a London judge to pay approximately $2.7 million in damages and legal fees. This ruling comes after Mitch accused two of his daughter's close friends, Naomi Parry and Catriona Gourlay, of auctioning Amy's personal belongings without his consent between 2021 and 2023.
In April, a judge dismissed Mitch's initial claims, stating he was aware of the auctions throughout the process. The final judgment, delivered on Wednesday, July 29, upheld this decision. Justice Clarke noted that Mitch pursued a weak claim aggressively, making unfounded allegations that significantly harmed the defendants' reputations and financial security.
The court documents revealed that Mitch had independent communication with the auction house and received press releases about the sales. He is now obligated to pay Parry £569,330 ($760,533.79) and Gourlay £394,521 ($527,016.93) in installments within two weeks. The judge concluded that Mitch deliberately escalated the litigation to exert commercial pressure.
