Madigan's role is that of the team's owner, with Hanks portraying the pitching coach.

The film's narrative is inspired by a short story penned by Dave Eggers. It follows the journey of a young pitcher for the New York Mets whose life takes an unexpected turn after being struck by a batted ball. Marielle Heller, known for her work on 'Can You Ever Forgive Me?' and 'A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,' is directing the project from her own script. Production is slated to begin in New York during the fall season.

Madigan's recent accolades include an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in 'Weapons.' This recognition comes decades after her initial Oscar nomination for 'Twice in a Lifetime.' Her previous film credits include notable works such as 'Field of Dreams' and 'Gone Baby Gone.'
