Summary
- Rajeev Puri refutes claims his father Amrish Puri slapped Govinda.
- The incident allegedly occurred due to Govinda's nine-hour lateness.
- Puri's son states his father would never lose his temper like that.

A decades-old story alleging that veteran actor Amrish Puri slapped Govinda for extreme tardiness on a film set has been definitively denied by Puri's son, Rajeev.
Rajeev Puri stated on a podcast that the widely circulated account of Amrish Puri losing his temper and slapping Govinda after a nine-hour wait is untrue. He described his father as a calm individual who rarely raised his voice and would never resort to physical altercations.
While refuting the slap incident, Rajeev admitted that Govinda's reputed lateness might have impacted their professional relationship. He suggested this could be why Govinda did not work with Amrish Puri after their 1989 film 'Do Qaidi'.
However, Rajeev emphasized that his father harbored no resentment over the matter. Amrish Puri, known for iconic roles, passed away in 2005 at age 72.
