Amitabh Bachchan's Heartwarming Gift Restores Dignity for Goghat Family

In October 2025, Amitabh Bachchan's heartwarming gesture brought dignity to the home of Jayanta Duley, a contestant on the 16th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) in 2024. Duley, a guest lecturer at Swami Vivekananda College of Education in Goghat, near Kamarpukur, had shared the struggles of his family on the show, revealing that they lacked a bathroom, forcing his mother, Rupa, and sister, Shikha, to bathe in the village pond.

Moved by their story, Bachchan had assured Duley that he would ensure a bathroom was built at their home, at his own expense. True to his word, the Bollywood icon kept his promise a year later, sending ₹2 lakh to Duley's account to fund the construction of the much-needed bathroom. Shikha, who had completed her master's in Bengali from Burdwan University and was waiting to secure admission in a D.El.Ed course, called Bachchan's gesture a way to preserve the dignity of women.
