An action sequence with Puneet Issar resulted in a severe abdominal injury and a ruptured spleen, leading to a brief clinical death before emergency surgeries.

Remarkably, just three months post-discharge, Bachchan returned to complete the film. Late actor Rishi Kapoor recounted the immense fervor surrounding Bachchan's return to the 'Coolie' set, noting that approximately one lakh fans converged, overwhelming police control.

Kapoor described the scene as unprecedented, with producers resorting to local strongmen to manage the ecstatic crowd. He further reflected in his autobiography on an unspoken professional tension with Bachchan that dissipated after they co-starred in 'Amar Akbar Anthony,' eventually leading to friendship.

Kapoor also mentioned a lingering sentiment about filmmakers consistently assigning the most impactful roles in action films to Bachchan due to his prowess in the genre, a situation that affected other leading actors as well.
