Amitabh Bachchan Reminisces Magical Collaboration with Legendary Director Yash Chopra

In a heartfelt tribute, Amitabh Bachchan looked back on his iconic collaboration with legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra on the occasion of Chopra's 93rd birth anniversary. Bachchan revealed that in the year 2000, when he was jobless and had no films on hand, he approached Chopra and asked to be cast in one of his projects. To Bachchan's surprise, Chopra immediately offered him the lead role in 'Mohabbatein', kickstarting the megastar's glorious second innings.

Bachchan also reminisced about their earlier collaborations on classic films like 'Deewaar' and 'Kala Patthar', which were pivotal in redefining his "angry young man" persona in the 1970s. While the two never set out to make 'Deewaar' a classic, Bachchan acknowledged its enduring legacy, leaving the assessment to critics.

Beyond their professional partnership, Bachchan fondly described his close, picnic-like friendship with Yashji, as he was fondly called. The two would constantly play games, eat, and chat between shots, making the experience feel more like a leisurely outing than work.
