Dewey Bunnell Carries the Torch for America

Dewey Bunnell is continuing the legacy of the band America as its sole original member on tour. This comes after his bandmate Gerry Beckley quietly retired from the road in late 2023. Bunnell, who never anticipated leading America alone after more than five decades, shared his surprise and satisfaction with how the shows are progressing.

Singer Andy Barr has taken on the responsibility of performing Beckley's signature songs, including hits like "Sister Golden Hair." This allows the band to maintain its rich vocal harmonies and beloved catalog for audiences.

Bunnell expressed his gratitude for his current support team and bandmates, noting the unexpected turn of events. He has been touring for three years without Beckley, finding success with the new arrangement.
