The upcoming Season 39 premiere of The Amazing Race introduces a significant twist, granting all 13 teams an Express Pass from the outset. This is the first time in the show's history that such a power is given freely to every contestant at the start line. Host Phil Keoghan explains that this change immediately impacts strategic decision-making for the teams.
Competitors face the immediate dilemma of whether to use their free Express Pass early to secure an advantage in the initial legs or conserve it for later when they might encounter greater difficulties. Keoghan teased that this twist is designed to provoke strategic thinking from episode one, potentially altering the familiar "earn your way" dynamic of the competition. The season premiere is set to air on Wednesday, September 30, and Thursday, October 1, on CBS.
