Each team begins the race with one Express Pass, usable in one of the initial six legs, with the stipulation that only one pass can be applied per Roadblock or Detour. The race's first task, a Roadblock, required participants to leap 300 feet from stadium rafters to catch a salmon. Erin and Javi, a married couple, strategically utilized their Express Pass for this challenge, ultimately leading them to finish the first leg in first place.
