Yukiko Sode's directorial feature, 'All the Lovers in the Night,' an adaptation of Mieko Kawakami's acclaimed novel, is currently in post-production. This marks the first full-length film inspired by Kawakami's internationally recognized work. The story centers on Fuyuko, a freelance proofreader whose solitary existence is disrupted by a high school physics teacher.
Golden Globe winner Tadanobu Asano appears in a significant supporting role, while Japan Academy Prize winner Yukino Kishii leads the cast. Japanese sales and distribution company Bitters End has secured the international rights for this anticipated film. A theatrical release in Japan is scheduled for later this year.
Bitters End, a Tokyo-based company with over three decades of experience, will also feature the film at Berlin's European Film Market. Their extensive distribution portfolio includes acclaimed works by directors such as Ryusuke Hamaguchi and Bong Joon Ho, as well as Oscar-winning productions like 'Drive My Car.'
