Summary

- Filming featured extras in period clothing and vintage vehicles.
- The popular 'All Creatures Great and Small' series is filming.

Anyone passing Bradford's City Hall this week might have thought they stepped back in time. The Grade I listed Victorian building's exterior was transformed into a 1940s post-war London backdrop by the production team behind the "All Creatures Great and Small" television series.
Filming involved extras dressed in period attire walking around the Venetian-style City Hall, accompanied by vintage vehicles including an old red London bus. Production crews employed techniques like dampening streets with hosepipes to enhance the historical atmosphere.
The "All Creatures Great and Small" series, originally based on the books by veterinary surgeon Alf Wight (writing as James Herriot), was first adapted by the BBC in 1978. Channel 5 revived the show in 2020, with principal filming locations established in Yorkshire, notably Grassington as the fictional town of Darrowby.
The series has been confirmed for further seasons, with series seven and eight each set to include six one-hour episodes and Christmas specials. The current production is a collaboration between London-based Playground and the American PBS network's MASTERPIECE.
