A groundbreaking scripted series from New Zealand, "Alibi," is being presented at MIPCOM by Israel's Yes Studios. This innovative crime drama consists of seven episodes, each lasting 15 minutes, and offers a novel approach to storytelling by presenting the same narrative from multiple viewpoints.
The series is set in the fictional New Zealand town of Awatahi, where the discovery of 17-year-old Jodie Hunter's death initiates the central mystery. "Alibi" uniquely follows each of the six primary suspects as they recount their version of events to establish their alibi. Each of these accounts forms the basis of an individual episode.
Remarkably, viewers can watch the episodes in any sequence, with the seventh and final installment serving to unveil the conclusive truth. Creators Hannah Marshall, David de Lautour, and Gareth Williams, with Marshall and de Lautour writing and de Lautour also directing, have crafted a flexible format.
Yes Studios sees "Alibi" as a versatile offering for international partners, suitable for both linear broadcast slots and digital platforms that can leverage its non-linear, binge-worthy nature.
