Bollywood's Pay Divide: Bhatt Earns 8x More Than Sharvari

The Hindi film industry is once again facing scrutiny over significant pay disparities, as highlighted by reports concerning the upcoming film 'Alpha'. Alia Bhatt, leading the project, is said to have commanded a fee of Rs 25 crore. This remuneration is reportedly eight times greater than that of co-star Sharvari Wagh, who is credited with Rs 3 crore for her role.

Further adding to the discussion, veteran actors Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor have reportedly secured Rs 6 crore each for their performances in 'Alpha'. Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film is noted as the first in its spy universe to feature a female lead. Originally slated for a 2025 release, 'Alpha' is now scheduled to premiere worldwide on July 3, 2026.

This revelation brings renewed attention to the persistent issues of gender and seniority influencing remuneration in Bollywood. The substantial difference in pay between Bhatt and Wagh, despite both playing key female roles, underscores the ongoing debate about equitable compensation for artists within the industry.
