- MacArthur's comedy background and family's Chicago roots

In November 2025, actress Ali Larter and her husband, comedian Hayes MacArthur, have found an unexpected new home in the mountains of Idaho. The couple, who have been married for over 15 years, decided to embark on a family road trip north during the COVID-19 pandemic, and ended up settling in the small town of Sun Valley.
Larter and MacArthur first met on the set of the 2005 comedy film Homo Erectus, and they have since welcomed two children together - son Theodore in 2010 and daughter Vivienne in 2015. Prior to their move, the family was based in Los Angeles, but the pandemic prompted them to seek a change of pace.
"People look out for each other," Larter told RUE Magazine in September 2024, describing the sense of community they've found in Sun Valley. "There's a real sense of community here and we're so happy to be a part of it."
