Creator Renews Lionsgate Deal Amid Rookie Success

Alexi Hawley, the creator of "The Rookie," has extended his overall deal with Lionsgate Television for multiple years. This agreement will see Hawley continue to oversee the "The Rookie" franchise and develop new projects for the studio.

Hawley expressed enthusiasm for the renewed partnership, citing Lionsgate's support. "The Rookie" is heading into its ninth season on ABC and continues to be a strong performer in viewership and streaming, with 12.82 billion minutes watched on Hulu in the first half of the year.

Both the ninth season of "The Rookie" and its new spinoff, "The Rookie: North," are slated to premiere on ABC in early 2027. Hawley also created Netflix's "The Recruit" and is developing other projects.
