Alexandra Metz Joins Will Trent as Birdie Palmer

Alexandra Metz, known for her role in The Pitt, is joining the cast of Will Trent as a series regular. She will embody Birdie Palmer, the GBI's new Deputy Director. Birdie is characterized as confident, ambitious, and highly intelligent, yet harbors secrets from a significant past event. Her appointment follows the tragic death of Amanda Wagner in the previous season.

The series, which is based on Karin Slaughter's bestselling "Will Trent" book series, centers on Special Agent Will Trent. Abandoned at birth and raised in Atlanta's foster care system, Will now uses his distinct insights to achieve a high clearance rate within the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Production for Will Trent's fifth season commenced approximately two weeks ago in Atlanta, with a projected release in 2027. Metz's recurring role as Dr. Yolanda Garcia in HBO Max's The Pitt will continue in its third season. Metz's extensive acting credits include notable appearances on Grey's Anatomy, Chicago Fire, and Law & Order: SVU.

Beyond her television work, Metz is set to appear in the independent film Iron Jane. She is also in the process of writing a memoir, "Good Grief," which delves into themes of intergenerational trauma, resilience, and the healing process. The show's executive producers include Liz Heldens, Karin Slaughter, and Ramón Rodríguez, with Karine Rosenthal serving as showrunner.
