Alex Kingston: Bloating Hid My Cancer

Actress Alex Kingston has shared her experience of nearly overlooking symptoms of uterine cancer, which she initially dismissed as signs of aging. The 62-year-old actress was diagnosed in May last year after experiencing symptoms such as bloating and weight gain, which she believed were a normal part of being in her 60s.

Her realization came when she began hemorrhaging on stage during a play. Despite this alarming event, Kingston initially suspected a burst fibroid rather than cancer. After completing her theatrical run, she sought medical advice and was diagnosed with cancer in her fallopian tubes, which had not spread to her ovaries. This led to a hysterectomy and radiation therapy.

Having successfully battled the disease, Kingston participated in Strictly Come Dancing, aiming to demonstrate that it's possible to move forward after significant challenges. She expressed pride in her journey on the show and cherishes the life lessons learned, encouraging others to embrace every moment fully.
