Akshay Kumar Forgoes Salary for Jungle's Profit Share

The upcoming film 'Welcome To The Jungle' features a unique remuneration strategy for superstar Akshay Kumar. Instead of his standard upfront acting fee, Kumar has agreed to a profit-sharing arrangement, taking no salary for his role. This approach substantially lowers the film's initial production expenses.

Industry estimates place the total production budget for 'Welcome To The Jungle' at Rs. 125 crores. Significant allocations were made for the shoot, with production costs reaching Rs. 60 crores. The inclusion of an extensive ensemble cast and action sequences contributed to this budget.

Remarkably, the total cost for the cast was maintained at Rs. 35 crores. This figure is considerably lower than anticipated for a film with multiple established actors, primarily due to Akshay Kumar's decision to forgo his fee. Had he charged his usual remuneration, the budget would have been substantially higher.

Further budget breakdowns include Rs. 15 crores for the technical crew and director, and another Rs. 15 crores for print and publicity. This careful financial planning aims to balance spectacle with economic prudence.

The profit-sharing deal is a central aspect of the film's financial structure. Akshay Kumar's earnings are now directly linked to the profits realized after the producers recoup their investment, rather than a fixed payment. As of the current reporting period, 'Welcome To The Jungle' has garnered Rs. 64.85 crores at the domestic box office.
