Akshay Kumar Demands 'Cyber Period' in Maharashtra Schools to Tackle Online Threats

In a powerful address last month, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar called for the Maharashtra government to implement a new initiative aimed at safeguarding children from the rising threat of cybercrime. Speaking at an awareness event organized by the Mumbai Police, Kumar shared a personal experience that hit close to home, revealing how his young daughter Nitara was once targeted by an online predator.

Recounting the incident, Kumar explained that while Nitara was playing a video game, a stranger asked her for nude pictures. Shaken by this, Nitara immediately turned off the game and informed her parents. Kumar emphasized that such cases are far more common than people realize, with predators often using kindness and casual conversation as a trap before revealing their true malicious intentions.

Urging the authorities and the audience to take action, Kumar passionately requested the Chief Minister to introduce a 'Cyber Period' in schools across Maharashtra. This weekly program would educate students in grades 7 through 10 about the growing dangers of cybercrime and how to identify and report online threats.

The actor's emotional appeal underscored his proactive stance as both a parent and a concerned citizen. Supported by the Mumbai Police, Kumar's initiative aims to empower children and parents alike, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to navigate the rapidly evolving digital landscape safely.
