Akhanda 2 Release Halted Over Decade-Old Dispute
6 Dec
Summary
- Akhanda 2's release was stopped due to a financial dispute.
- The dispute involves a 2015 agreement between 14 Reels Entertainment and Eros.
- Actor Balakrishna reportedly sacrificed ₹7 crore of his salary.

The much-awaited release of Nandamuri Balakrishna's "Akhanda 2" has been indefinitely postponed. A decade-old financial dispute between the film's production house, 14 Reels Entertainment, and Eros has brought the magnum opus to a standstill. The disagreement stems from an agreement made in 2015 concerning earlier films, which escalated into a legal battle.
Despite a 2019 court order for 14 Reels Entertainment to pay over ₹11 crore plus interest, the dues remained unsettled. Eros recently petitioned to halt the release of "Akhanda 2" upon learning of the production house's plans for a major release, aiming to recover the outstanding amount.
To facilitate the film's eventual release, reports suggest that Nandamuri Balakrishna has voluntarily relinquished ₹7 crore from his remuneration. This significant sacrifice by the lead actor and director signals a strong commitment to resolving the financial hurdles and bringing "Akhanda 2" to theaters soon.
