Akhanda 2 Aims for Blockbuster Run, Faces Steep Breakeven Target

As of October 13, 2025, the Telugu film industry is eagerly awaiting the release of Akhanda 2, the sequel to the 2021 blockbuster. The pre-release theatrical rights for the six territories of Andhra Pradesh have been set between 50 and 55 crores, indicating the high expectations surrounding the film. Additionally, the rights for the Ceded region are estimated at around 22 crores, while the Nizam region's business is reportedly locked at 36 crores.

To break even, Akhanda 2 must earn a share of 110 crore gross at the box office, which translates to a daunting target of around 200 crore gross in the Telugu states. This represents an 83.33% increase in share compared to the first installment of Akhanda, which earned a share of around 60 crore gross. The sequel's success will depend on its ability to maintain a strong pace at the box office and appeal to the audience, as the expectations are undoubtedly high.

Nandamuri Balakrishna, the lead actor, has been on a roll in the post-COVID era, delivering big numbers at the box office. The first Akhanda film was a critical and commercial success, and the sequel is expected to build on that momentum.
