A Rosemead woman is at the center of a gripping drama as she discovers her teenage son's violent obsessions and must take drastic action to protect him—and potentially others. The film, based on the award-winning Los Angeles Times article by Frank Shyong, has earned critical acclaim since its premiere at the 2025 Tribeca Festival.
The movie, directed by Fu, was nominated for a 2025 Golden Horse Award, one of Asia's highest honors in cinema. It also won the prestigious Prix du Public UBS audience award at the Locarno Film Festival and Best Narrative Feature at the Bentonville Film Festival. The film is set to be released in theaters by Vertical in December.
Fu, a Sundance Screenwriters Lab alum and William Goldman Screenwriting Fellowship recipient, has also written other acclaimed works, including The Honor List and The Sisterhood of Night. She is currently a writer on the upcoming Peacock espionage thriller The Copenhagen Test and has adapted bestselling novels for the Amazon MGM series The Baxters.
