Aidan's Unexpected Return Stirs Nostalgia for Sex and the City Fans

In October 2025, actor John Corbett, who played Aidan Shaw in the original Sex and the City series, opened up about his return to the role in the show's revival, And Just Like That. Corbett, 64, revealed that he was one of the few people, besides the writers and Sarah Jessica Parker, who knew Aidan and Carrie's reunion wouldn't ultimately work out.

Aidan and Carrie had an on-and-off relationship in the original series, with Aidan proposing to Carrie before they ultimately ended their engagement. In the And Just Like That premiere, it was revealed that Aidan had gotten divorced, leading fans to hope he and Carrie would get a second chance at love.

Corbett reprised his role in the second and third seasons of the revival, and the two characters did reconnect for a brief period. However, their relationship couldn't last, as Aidan's life was in Virginia, while Carrie remained in New York City. Despite the bittersweet ending, Corbett expressed his deep affection for the "Sex and the City family" he's been a part of for the past two decades.

Sadly, news broke that And Just Like That would be ending after just 3 seasons, leaving Aidan and Carrie's fate unresolved. Corbett confessed he was "still" sad the show was not going to continue, saying he "would just love to keep watching" the characters he's grown to love.
