A new 12-part animated vertical series, "Home Away AI.i.Ce," has been announced, utilizing a novel approach that blends artificial intelligence with traditional animation techniques. The series is the collaborative effort of Red Empire Prods. and Organic Media Group, with Cherelynn Baker as creator and writer, and Amie Casey directing.
The narrative follows Al.i.Ce, a character who is part-girl and part-machine, left adrift in space after her father's demise. Driven by a need to find her estranged family, she embarks on a journey towards Earth. Georgie Saunders lends her voice to the protagonist, while Ellie Popov voices the character of Vera the plant.
This next-generation production pipeline is described as a hybrid-AI animation system. It uniquely incorporates real physical and vocal performances from human actors directly into the animated output. Director Amie Casey stated that the intention is not to replace human artistry but to preserve it, using AI as a tool to integrate actors' captured data for enhanced scope and intimacy in the final product.
