The highly acclaimed real-time strategy game, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, will be available on macOS starting May 28 via Steam. A subsequent release on the App Store is planned for later in the year. This port was developed in collaboration with World's Edge, the studio managing the Age of Empires franchise.
The Mac version mirrors its PC counterpart, integrating content from the original Age of Kings release and its popular The Conquerors expansion. It also features three recent DLCs: Lords of the West, Dynasties of India, and Dawn of the Dukes. Furthermore, players gain access to updated graphics, enhanced music, and two decades of gameplay refinements.
For multiplayer enthusiasts, a wide selection of civilizations will be available. Any additional DLC released for the PC version, including the latest The Last Chieftains expansion, will also be purchasable separately for Mac users. This marks the first Microsoft title to arrive on Mac since Psychonauts 2 in 2021.
