Artists Equity, a company co-founded by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, has introduced its Writers' Room program, an in-house initiative dedicated to nurturing original screenplays. This program invites writers to pitch film concepts across various genres, with selected ideas being developed into viable projects within Artists Equity's sales pipeline.
Participating writers receive regular feedback from acclaimed figures such as Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Eric Roth. This collaborative approach aims to foster bold, original ideas and provide a clear path for writers to bring their scripts to life. The program has successfully completed two pilot rounds, resulting in four scripts currently in packaging and four more in progress.
The newly commenced third round of the Writers' Room features eight writers across two distinct rooms. This program is designed to offer a supportive development dynamic, avoiding the common pitfalls of endless notes and shifting objectives. Films emerging from this initiative will become part of Artists Equity's growing portfolio, reinforcing their commitment to cultivating unique cinematic projects.
