Action Maestro Gulab: Free Hand from Directors!

Action director Aejaz Gulab has garnered acclaim for his work, notably in 'Dhurandhar The Revenge.' His career commenced in 1989 assisting action directors, eventually leading to his debut as a full-fledged director in 2007 with 'Shootout At Lokhandwala.'

Gulab shared insights from his extensive collaborations with major stars. He mentioned working on approximately ten films with Aamir Khan and has been Salman Khan's body double on several occasions, appearing in films like 'Veergati' and 'Judwaa.' He was also present during the filming of Aamir Khan's famous 'Ghulam' railway track scene, confirming the stunt was performed by Khan himself.

A significant aspect of Gulab's career is his working relationship with directors like Ram Gopal Varma, Mohit Suri, and Aditya Dhar. He emphasized that these directors provided him with considerable creative freedom, allowing him to fully realize his action concepts. Gulab recalled instances where directors like Mohit Suri would present a brief scenario and trust Gulab's creative input for the action choreography.

The long-standing bond between Gulab and Mohit Suri began when both were assistant directors on films such as 'Raaz' and 'Awara Paagal Deewana.' This early connection fostered a relationship where creative differences could be openly discussed and resolved, a level of comfort he found with Ram Gopal Varma and Aditya Dhar as well. Gulab noted Aditya Dhar's encouragement to voice any concerns, stating, "If you feel something is wrong, please let me know."
