Australian filmmaker Adrian Chiarella has secured a significant deal at Sundance, with his film 'Leviticus' selling for a mid-seven-figure sum. The deal marks the first major acquisition of the 2026 festival.
'Leviticus,' produced by Causeway Films, the team behind 'Talk to Me,' explores a conversion therapy narrative through the story of two teenage boys battling a malevolent entity. The film, written and directed by Chiarella, is scheduled for a wide theatrical release this summer.
Chiarella, an alumnus of the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, has a notable directing career. He previously helmed episodes for Stan and Sundance Now's 'Totally Completely Fine' and Paramount+'s 'Five Bedrooms.' His 2025 work on the SBS anthology series 'Erotic Stories' earned him an AWGIE Award and an AACTA nomination.
WME will now represent Chiarella across all areas, while he continues his representation with Cameron's Management. The filmmaker's acclaimed short films have previously screened at international festivals.
