"A Mosquito in the Ear," an adoption-focused drama featuring Jake Lacy and Nazanin Boniadi, is slated for a select theatrical release this spring. The film recently debuted at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Its narrative centers on Andrew and Daniela, a couple traveling to India to adopt their four-year-old daughter, Sarvari.
Upon their arrival, the couple encounters unexpected resistance as Sarvari refuses to return with them to North America. This pivotal moment forms the core conflict of the film, exploring the intricate emotional landscape of identity and cross-cultural relationships.
Written and directed by Nicola Rinciari, the film is an adaptation of Andrea Ferraris' fact-based graphic novel. The production was overseen in India by Laurens Postma and Sunitha Ram of Lasutra Pictures. Persimmon has secured the North American distribution rights, and international sales are being handled by Fandango's Raffaella Di Giulio.
