Manoj Muntashir, the dialogue writer for the recently released Adipurush, has admitted the film failed to meet audience expectations. Speaking at a Mumbai event on Tuesday, Muntashir urged a separate viewing of Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming Ramayana adaptation. He acknowledged the widespread criticism of Adipurush, stating, 'there should be no shame in admitting that Adipurush couldn't meet expectations.'
Muntashir expressed his support for any film that takes Indian mythology to a global stage and specifically praised Yash's performance as Ravana in Tiwari's Ramayana. He conveyed his best wishes for the film, which is scheduled to release its first part during Diwali 2026. He also took pride in Adipurush's music, which he noted was a significant hit.
Adipurush, released in 2023, faced considerable backlash for its dialogues, visual effects, and character portrayals. Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana trailer has since been released, showcasing Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The film's music is a collaboration between Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman, with Ramayana: Part 1 set for a Diwali 2026 release and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.
