Summary
- Gouri Kishan opens up about insecurities over her "naturally round face"
- Actresses feel compelled to meet unrealistic beauty standards, sometimes opting for cosmetic procedures
- Gouri credits acting workshops for boosting her confidence and shifting focus to performance

In a candid interview on Maathevan's podcast last month, actress Gouri Kishan openly discussed the challenges she has faced regarding beauty expectations in the film industry. Gouri revealed that she still feels insecure about her appearance on screen, as she does not fit the conventional mold of a "lean face, sharp jawline, or slim features" that is often expected of heroines.
The actor admitted that she previously struggled with anxiety over her "naturally round face," feeling that she did not meet the industry's standards. However, Gouri credited acting workshops in Kochi and Bengaluru for helping rebuild her confidence, as she found that "everyone is treated equally, and they don't care if you've done ten films." This experience grounded Gouri and shifted her focus back to her performance rather than physical appearance.
