Casting director Mukesh Chhabra disclosed that Akshaye Khanna's role as Rehman Dakait in Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar was initially rejected by three major actors. Chhabra expressed confidence that these actors, one from South India and two from Bollywood, are now regretting their decision, which was based on what he called 'weird logic.'
Chhabra also shared that other prominent actors like Arjun Rampal and Sanjay Dutt, alongside Khanna himself, were initially hesitant to join the project. R Madhavan was the only one who immediately agreed. The espionage thriller, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, was released theatrically on March 19, 2026, featuring an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt. The film has since grossed Rs 1,492.17 crore worldwide within 15 days of its release.
