Actor Channels Notorious Serial Killer's Twisted Psyche for Chilling Role

In a chilling portrayal, actor Tobias Jelinek has taken on the role of notorious serial killer Richard Speck in the new Netflix series "Monster: The Richard Gein Story." Jelinek, who has played several serial killers on-screen, says this particular role took him to a "dark" place.

To prepare for the role, the 48-year-old actor delved deep into Speck's crimes and psychology. He explored court files and disturbing prison footage, including a tape where Speck detailed his murders. Jelinek says he had to be selective in his research, as the material was "very dark."

Further immersing himself in the character, Jelinek filmed his scenes at Illinois' Stateville Correctional Center, where Speck was incarcerated. The actor notes that the atmosphere of the prison, where serial killer John Wayne Gacy was executed, "really lent itself to the reality and putting me in the state of mind."

Jelinek also utilized the Michael Chekhov acting technique, working with a mentor in Chicago to explore the character. He even donned a kimono and his wife's bra during the audition process, fully embodying Speck's twisted persona.

The actor's haunting transformation has captivated audiences, who are now witnessing the chilling portrayal of one of America's most notorious serial killers.
