Actor Settles 4-Year-Old Score with UPS Driver on SNL Debut
16 Nov
Summary
- Glen Powell's SNL debut was delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic
- He had already told a UPS driver about hosting SNL in 2021
- Powell tracked down the UPS driver to prove he wasn't a liar

In November 2025, actor Glen Powell made his long-awaited debut as the host of Saturday Night Live. However, this was not the first time Powell was set to grace the iconic SNL stage.
Back in December 2021, Powell was originally scheduled to host the show to promote his role in the hit film Top Gun: Maverick. Unfortunately, the booking was canceled when the Top Gun sequel was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, actor Paul Rudd hosted the SNL Christmas episode that year.
At the time, Powell was especially disappointed to have lost the hosting gig because he had already shared the news with a UPS driver who happened to be delivering a package to his family's porch. Excited about the opportunity, Powell even took a selfie with the driver to celebrate.
Fast forward to 2025, and Powell finally got his chance to make his SNL debut. But he wasn't about to let the past four years go without settling the score with that UPS driver. With the help of his "terrifying" sisters, Powell tracked down the delivery man, named Mitch, and flew him all the way to New York to prove he wasn't a liar.
During his monologue, Powell brought Mitch on stage to recreate their original selfie, bringing their story "full circle." As Powell told the audience, "If I have learned anything, it is that the best things in life don't happen overnight. And no one knows that better than UPS."
