Act 4 Artists, a new feature film finance and production outfit, has officially launched to support emerging filmmakers. The company intends to guide projects from their initial development stages all the way through to distribution.
Founded by Danielle Lauder, the great-granddaughter of cosmetics mogul Estée Lauder, the firm is run alongside co-heads of development and production Casey Hanley and Steven Sachs, and Camila Keller Sarmiento, head of event programming and creative producer.
The company made its debut with the SXSW premiere of director Will Ropp's high school comedy 'Brian.' Act 4 Artists also financed and produced the film, written by Mike Scollins.
Beyond narrative features, Act 4 Artists is committed to supporting other visual artists. The company has plans to launch showcases for artists including Pablo Stein, Anton Connelly, and Donald Robertson. In film, Act 4 Artists is also backing 'Psyche,' a psychological horror film starring Noah Jupe and Isabela Merced.
