27 Oct
Summary
- Prolific writer/director Taylor Sheridan leaving Paramount for NBCUniversal
- Sheridan's TV deal with Paramount not up until 2028, but expected to move to NBCUniversal
- Sheridan's new NBCUniversal deal will be "rich", but he must create new IP

In a major move, acclaimed writer and director Taylor Sheridan is preparing to depart Paramount for a new deal with NBCUniversal. As of October 27th, 2025, Sheridan's current TV contract with Paramount is not set to expire until the end of 2028. However, he is expected to bring that deal over to NBCUniversal when it concludes.
Sheridan's new agreement with NBCUniversal is anticipated to be a lucrative one, though he will be required to create wholly new intellectual property when he makes the jump in a few years' time. This is because Paramount retains ownership of the Yellowstone franchise and other shows Sheridan has developed for the company.
"I spent the first 37 years of my life compromising," Sheridan told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year. "When I quit acting, I decided that I am going to tell my stories my way, period." It appears Sheridan is staying true to that vision as he transitions to a new home at NBCUniversal.
