On October 28, 2025, acclaimed screenwriter Eric Heisserer published his debut novel, a suspenseful psychological thriller that blends the supernatural with a high-stakes investigation. The story follows a past-life regression therapist and an agent from the Predictive Analytics department of Homeland Security who become unlikely partners as they discover a phenomenon tied to reincarnation and uncover a killer exploiting his own past lives.
Early response to the book has been overwhelmingly positive, with praise from bestselling authors Leigh Bardugo, David Koepp, and Josh Malerman. Bardugo described it as "a twisty, mind-bending thriller that will keep you guessing until the final gut punch," while Koepp praised its "mind-blowing premise and razor-sharp execution." Malerman added that "Heisserer has outdone himself."
The novel is the first project developed as part of Heisserer's new first-look deal with Sony Pictures. Under the same deal, he is also working on a grounded new sci-fi project based on the acclaimed novel "Dissolution" by Nicholas Binge.
